Very few Anglican churches look or function the same way. Though a visitor to an Anglican church or fellowship will notices similarities in worship in the liturgy and practices, each ministry has their distinctives.
All Souls Anglican Mission on the westside of Indy is no different we have some distinct ways we want to practice our faith. As we gathered our launch team we stated that we exist to simply “follow Jesus and proclaim His kingdom”. To live into this Vision we embrace four Mission Distinctives.
- Home Base - Our primary method of gathering is not Sunday Service but our weekly neighborhood gathering in our homes. As we gather in small groups our desire is to form missional communities who see their mission field as their immediate neighborhoods. Each house church functions as a full expression of the church engaging in Worship, Fellowship, Discipleship, Ministry and Mission.
- Service Focused - Our goal is to see each small group as serving the neighborhood and community in which they are located. This takes many forms from participating in neighborhood clean up, community organization projects or advocacy, evangelistic outreach, prayer walking, hosting parties, and random acts of kindness. Our goal is to impact our community for the common good in the name of Christ.
- Leadership Development - Each House Church group will require lay leadership which will help keep the group moving forward in spiritual formation, worship and outreach. Our goal is to multiply each house church every one to two years. It will be one of the clergy’s primary role is to train and support each new leader.
- Ministry Intensive - Understanding that each church member has ministry gifts and skills. It is our goal to identify, utilize and encourage the use of these gifts within the church or in our community. This means each person at All Souls is able to answer the question “In what ways are you doing ministry?” Every member ministry is our goal.
As All Souls builds our church around home based fellowships, we will gather in a large group on the Lord’s Day around the Eucharist Table. Here we will remember and worship, but also celebrate how Jesus is working in our lives and ministry. At the same time, we expect Him to transform our lives today, empower us for His work and lead us in the days ahead.
If this way of following Christ resonates with both your head and heart, come join us as we grow in faith in Christ and impact the community and world in which we live.
